In an interview with Fox News, Steve Witkoff, a close adviser to Donald Trump, revealed that talks have been launched between the United States and Iran aimed at reviving negotiations over Tehran's nuclear program.
According to Witkoff, these exchanges, conducted both directly and through third-party channels, are “promising” and could pave the way for a “comprehensive peace agreement.”
Witkoff stressed that Washington is conditioning any progress on Tehran's firm commitment to halt uranium enrichment. “The United States demands that Iran never resume enrichment under any circumstances,” he declared.
The Trump envoy also addressed recent targeted strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, including sites in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow, claiming they had “completely crippled” the country's nuclear capabilities.
He dismissed leaked reports in some media suggesting underground facilities had withstood portions of the attacks. “These assessments are nonsense,” he asserted.
Witkoff emphasized the total destruction of the Isfahan uranium conversion plant, calling it “crucial to any enrichment or weaponization process.” With the site now inoperable, he argued, Iran's short-term military nuclear ambitions have effectively been neutralized.
