The United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Egypt topped the list of Arab countries attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2024, according to the latest data released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Lebanon made notable progress, climbing to 6th place in the regional ranking.

The UAE remains the region’s leading FDI recipient, buoyed by a surge in Greenfield investments which reflect the country’s strong economic appeal and favorable business environment.

The figures are drawn from UNCTAD’s annual World Investment Report, which tracks net FDI inflows globally. These inflows represent foreign companies acquiring at least a 10% stake in domestic businesses and are widely viewed as a key barometer of economic stability, investor confidence and the effectiveness of public policy.
