A fire broke out Monday morning between Majdal Selm and Khirbet Selm, in the Bint Jbeil district of South Lebanon, after debris from an interceptor missile fell in the area. The blast was felt in several towns across the region, with residents reporting loud explosions that fueled fears among the population.
Such incidents have become increasingly frequent since the outbreak of direct hostilities between Iran and Israel on June 13. Many missiles launched from Iran are intercepted before reaching Israeli territory, with interceptions often occurring over Lebanon or Syria. The falling debris has sparked fires and raised concerns over civilian safety.
In a related development, Israeli drones have intensified their activity over the coastal city of Tyre and areas along the Litani River, stretching from Qasimiyeh to Tayr Felsay.
An Israeli military helicopter also dropped two bombs near a pickup truck in Kfar Kila, in the Marjayoun district, further escalating tensions in the already volatile southern border region.
