A new campus of the Sports Academy School (SAS) will open its doors in Portemilio-Kaslik in October. It’s another step forward for this institution dedicated to sports-related professions, already operating in Baabda since 2015.
The 2025-2026 academic year will mark a turning point for the Sports Academy School (SAS). The school, specialized in technical training in physical education, has announced the opening of a second campus in Portemilio-Kaslik, in partnership with the International Maritime Academy. This geographical expansion comes 10 years after the launch of the Baabda site, the school’s original home.
Since 2015, SAS has trained several thousand students. Some have continued with university studies, while others entered the job market directly—whether in sports clubs, rehabilitation centers or personal coaching structures.
Diverse Opportunities
The main program is centered on the Technical Baccalaureate in Physical Education (BT3), which is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. This diploma allows students to pursue higher education in various fields such as physical education, physiotherapy, sports nutrition, sports management or even graphic design—disciplines that are rapidly growing as sports increasingly intersect with health, performance and visual communication.
The new campus will welcome its first students in October 2025, marking the start of a new chapter in the development of this school, which aims to stay attuned to trends in the sports world and the needs on the ground.
Short-Term Programs
Beyond the BT3, the Sports Academy School also offers short-term certified training programs designed for those seeking practical skills in a shorter timeframe.
These intensive tracks provide training in team and individual sports, martial arts, strength and conditioning, personal coaching and sports rehabilitation. Each module is developed by industry experts with a strong focus on real-world, professional application.
Specialized Infrastructure
The Kaslik campus will offer a fully equipped educational environment, including modern training halls, physical assessment labs and spaces dedicated to medical follow-up and physiotherapy. Instruction will be provided by highly qualified teachers, many of whom hold master’s or doctoral degrees in sports science.
Georges Assaf, Architect of a Performance-Driven Project
At the heart of this academic initiative is Georges Assaf, a PhD holder in sports physiology from the University of Kinesiology in Zagreb. He is the co-founder of SAS and the technical director of the Performance First Health Club. Assaf has made his mark as a strength and conditioning coach and rehabilitation expert for numerous elite athletes.
Throughout his career, he has worked with Lebanon’s national football and basketball teams, and he has also supported top-tier athletes across various Arab countries. He even served as an Olympic coach for track and field athletes. His hands-on experience at the highest levels of performance informs a teaching philosophy rooted in discipline, excellence and real-world relevance.
A New Hub to Structure Sports in Lebanon
By expanding to Kaslik, the Sports Academy School aims to meet the growing demand for specialized training in a region with abundant sports infrastructure but a need for better-qualified personnel. This expansion seeks to reach a wider audience and contribute to the emergence of skilled professionals in a sector still in the process of structuring itself.
