Iran launched a new wave of missiles against Israel on Saturday night, for the second night in a row, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.

The target of the attack was Haifa, Israel’s main port and northernmost major city. Preliminary reports indicate that around forty projectiles were fired.

Israel's emergency services said four people were killed and 14 injured.

"Teams have reported 14 casualties at a two-storey home in the Western Galilee, including one in critical condition and the rest with varying levels of injury," Israel's Magen David Adom agency said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Iran announced it was launching another salvo of missiles on Israel in retaliation for strikes on its territory since Friday, raising fears of a further escalation between the two hostile nations.

“A new wave of Operation Honest Promise 3 has begun,” stated state television, referring to the name given to the very first Iranian strike on Israeli territory last year.

Multiple impacts have been observed, according to local observers.
