The White House appointed Wayne Wall as senior director for the Middle East at the National Security Council (NSC), according to an official source and an official close to the matter cited by Axios.

His appointment comes on the heels of a major reorganization initiated by President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Marco Rubio.

A Discreet but Experienced Profile

A former executive at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Wayne Wall has solid experience in intelligence and Middle East affairs. He succeeds Eric Trager, who was ousted during this internal purge at the NSC.

This appointment is seen as one of the first concrete steps in the White House's new strategy to reshape its national security teams, particularly for the Middle East region.

At this stage, the White House has made no public comment on the appointment.
