Six golds, sixteen medals in total—and Lebanese pride overflowing from the pool. Swimmers from the Proswim Academy delivered an outstanding performance in Switzerland, holding their own against some of the world’s best.

Proswim, the wave that sweeps everything away. The protégés of national coach Mohammad Sakr shone brightly at the Swan Oberson International Meet in Geneva. Facing stiff competition, the young Lebanese athletes won 16 medals, including six gold, eight silver, and two bronze.

This was not just a preparatory competition. The Geneva pool welcomed some heavy international hitters, including Noè Ponti, bronze medalist in the 100m butterfly at Tokyo 2020 and Swiss star of the World and European Championships, as well as France's Yohann Ndoye-Brouard, Olympic medalist in Paris 2024 with the French relay team.

And yet, the Lebanese team managed to hold their own, racking up podium finishes and posting some very promising times.

A Small Delegation

The Lebanese delegation, composed of Maria Saba, Mona Takla, Ali Beidoun, Hussein Abou Hasan, and Ghassan Zein, was able to count on the vision and guidance of coach Mohammad Sakr, director of the Proswim Academy. A small team, but clearly well-prepared.

“Our swimmers stood up to world and European champions. These results are a source of pride not only for Proswim, but for all Lebanese swimming,” said Sakr, visibly moved.

The Support of Families

The coach also made a point of acknowledging the fundamental role of families in this adventure:

“Parents are our silent allies. Their trust and constant support are a driving force for all of us.”

This partnership between parents, coaches, and swimmers seems to be making waves... in a good way.

A Busy International Season

After Dubai and Doha, Geneva crowns a series of international competitions that place the Proswim Academy among the key players in high-level Lebanese swimming.

And The Year Is Not Over Yet...

From one pool to the next, Proswim’s young swimmers are proving that Lebanon doesn’t just swim against the tide—it often leads the way.
