They skate with heart, strike with boldness, and return from New Jersey with medals around their necks. The Lebanese women’s ice hockey team pulled off a major feat by claiming the bronze medal at the Dream Nations Cup – a resounding first for the nation.

Bronzed and Proud

Lebanon now has its place on the global hockey map. At the 2025 Dream Nations Cup, held in New Jersey from May 28 to June 1, the Lebanese women made a powerful statement. A 4–2 victory over Puerto Rico in the placement match – powered by a blazing-hot Stephanie Sabaliauskas, who was named MVP of the game – sealed the result. A masterclass in offense that earned the Cedars a historic medal.

A Wall Named Cordahi

But this achievement would never have happened without the incredible Marguerite Cordahi. In the semifinal against the same Puerto Rican team, the Lebanese goaltender frustrated the opposition’s attack, stopping 28 of the 30 shots on goal. Her world-class performance secured her team a place in the bronze medal match – a true goaltending masterclass that left experts in awe.

A Valiant Journey

Representing the Lebanese Ice Hockey Federation, the team finished the tournament with two wins against Puerto Rico, two losses and a heroic draw against Egypt… who went on to become champions. Solid, inspired and united, the Lebanese players held their own against countries with far deeper hockey pedigrees.

A Young Program Already Making Its Mark

Founded in 2018, the Lebanese women’s ice hockey program has been steadily growing thanks to a committed diaspora. Most of the players are based in Canada, the United States and Mexico – but they skate, fight and score proudly wearing the red and white of Lebanon. And they win.

Spotlight on a Rising Team

The Dream Nations Cup – an international tournament bringing together teams from emerging hockey nations – was the perfect stage to confirm it: Lebanon truly has a women’s team capable of competing at a high level and writing its name in bronze. And this is only the beginning.
