The Israeli army carried out a series of intense overnight airstrikes from Thursday into Friday, targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon and the Baalbek region. The attacks focused on weapons depots and rocket launch platforms.

According to Israeli broadcaster Channel 14, the strikes hit Hezbollah military infrastructure, including sites in Tabnah, on the outskirts of Baysariyeh (Saida-Zahrani district), as well as Wadi Burghuz (Hasbaya district) and the Mahmoudiyeh area in Jezzine. Two heavy airstrikes on Tabnah caused significant destruction.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health confirmed the deaths of two people, including Mahmoud Atwi, a municipal worker from Nabatiyeh el-Fawqa, who was killed by a drone strike while riding a motorcycle to fetch water from a well for nearby households. Another person was killed in the border town of Kfar Kila, while a resident of Beit Lif was injured by a stun grenade dropped by a drone.

In a statement published on X (formerly Twitter), Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee claimed that the air force had “eliminated a Hezbollah operative” in the Jabal Chakif area as he attempted to restore a previously destroyed strategic site. Adraee added that military infrastructure containing combat equipment had been targeted in the Saida area, accusing Hezbollah of attempting to rehabilitate it in violation of the tacit understandings between Israel and Lebanon.

The strikes extended to the Baalbek region, where four successive air raids targeted the outskirts of Shmestar, toward the town of Tarya, west of Baalbek.

In total, around 20 airstrikes were recorded over the evening across various locations: al-Baysariyeh, Shbeil, al-Ksara, the outskirts of Kfar Fila, Wadi Burghuz, Mahmoudiyeh, and Tabnah.

Heavy Israeli aerial activity was also reported over Hasbaya, the Arkoub region, the Shebaa Farms, and up to the slopes of Mount Hermon, overlooking Rashaya el-Wadi and both sides of the Bekaa Valley – particularly the Iqlim al-Touffah region and the hills overlooking Wadi Burghuz.

These military operations come amid rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, marked by near-daily cross-border exchanges of fire over the past several months. The Israeli army reiterated its determination to "eliminate any threat" to Israeli territory and to prevent any redeployment attempts by Hezbollah.
