Two men were killed in Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon on Thursday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported, with Israel claiming to have targeted a Hezbollah member.
A municipal worker was killed on Thursday in an Israeli drone strike targeting the Ali al-Taher wooded area in Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa, according to a statement from the Ministry of Public Health.
The victim, identified as Mahmoud Atwi, was a municipal employee from the town. He was reportedly riding his motorcycle toward a local well to redirect water to nearby homes when the drone struck.
For his part, Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced that the Israeli Air Force had conducted an airstrike in the Jabal Shakif area, claiming it had “eliminated a Hezbollah terrorist operative in southern Lebanon.”
In a statement posted on X, Adraee said the targeted individual had been attempting to reconstruct a site previously used by Hezbollah for fire control and defense operations.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health then reported that Israeli fire on the border town of Kfar Kila had caused the death of a second man.
A citizen was also wounded after being targeted by a stun grenade thrown by a drone in the locality of Beit Lif.
Meanwhile, heavy machine gun fire was reported from the Israeli Rweissat al-Alam military position toward the outskirts of the southern Lebanese town of Kfarchouba, further escalating tensions along the border region.
