The Beirut-based club retains its national crown after a fiercely contested final against Homenetmen. Led by a majestic Sedona Prince, the Yellow squad wins the series 3–1, confirming their dominance over Lebanese women’s basketball.
Al Riyadi remains on top in women’s basketball.
In a tense and physical final, the reigning champions resisted Homenetmen’s fury to claim their third title in a row. The best-of-five series ended in four games, with a decisive 81–60 victory on Homenetmen’s home court in Mezher.
A Thrilling Series, a Decisive Game 4
The tone was set from Game 1, where Al Riyadi cruised to a commanding 90–48 win, driven by a blazing offense. Homenetmen, stung by pride, bounced back in Game 2, narrowly winning 76–73. But Al Riyadi raised the intensity in Game 3 (94–53) before finishing the job in a suffocating fourth quarter of Game 4. After three relatively close quarters, the Yellow squad pulled away in the final 10 minutes (21–6) to secure the title.
Prince and Keunsch, Queens of Beirut
There’s no ignoring the monster performance of Sedona Prince, who ruled the paint with 29 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocks. Alongside her, Carter Keunsch dazzled at the point (22 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists), while captain Rebecca Akl led by example (14 points, 6 assists). Together, they broke down Homenetmen’s defense in key moments.
On the losing side, Jillian Archer fought valiantly (11 points, 18 rebounds, 8 assists), supported by Marta Ann Burci (13 points, 5 assists) and Daniella Fayad (19 points), but their team effort wasn’t enough to outlast the Yellow machine.
Azour Takes the Bronze
In the third-place game, Azour claimed the bronze medal by defeating Beirut Club 59–52 in a tightly contested match. Amar Mansour shone once again with 20 points and 11 rebounds, backed by Melody Saneh (12 points, 14 rebounds) and Kevani Richa (11 points). Beirut First put up a fight, especially through Mariam Jomaa (22 points), but ultimately fell short.
What’s Next?
The championship concludes, but the season is just beginning for Al Riyadi, who will now represent Lebanon on the regional stage. With a solid and experienced squad, the Yellow team now dreams of conquering titles beyond national borders. Meanwhile, Lebanese women’s basketball can celebrate a high-level final that drew fans and spotlighted both local and international talents.
