Arab leaders urged the international community Saturday to fund their plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip after U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated a proposal to take over the Palestinian territory.

An Arab League summit in Baghdad said in its final statement that it urges "countries and international and regional financial institutions to provide prompt financial support" to back its Gaza reconstruction plan.

The Baghdad Declaration underscores diplomacy, humanitarian aid, and national dialogue as cornerstones of regional peace efforts, in which Arab leaders issued a unified regional stance on key crises, from the conflict in Gaza and Syria’s reintegration to ongoing instability in Sudan, Libya, and Lebanon.

A major highlight of the declaration is its emphasis on the Palestinian issue, reaffirmed as "central to the Arab world." The statement demands an immediate end to the war in Gaza, calls for unhindered humanitarian access, and endorses the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan for the territory. Palestinian factions are urged to unite around a comprehensive national project and a shared strategic vision.

On Syria, the declaration welcomes U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement to lift sanctions and appreciates Saudi Arabia's efforts toward the same goal, while also condemning continued Israeli strikes on Syrian territory. It stresses the need to respect Syria’s sovereignty, reject foreign interference, and honor the will of the Syrian people.

"The reconstruction of Syria is impacted by economic and financial sanctions," the statement from the Arab League summit said. "We welcome the US President Donald Trump's announcement to lift the sanctions imposed" on Syria.

The declaration also backs U.S.-Iran talks, expressing hope they will lead to “positive outcomes” and regional de-escalation. Additionally, it condemns all forms of terrorism and extremist ideology, reflecting a firm stance against regional destabilization.

Turning to other crises, the document calls for a political resolution to the conflict in Sudan, backs national dialogue as the path to peace in Libya, and reaffirms support for Lebanon’s territorial integrity while urging protection of its borders and helping it overcome internal challenges to preserve stability.
