Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a press briefing on Wednesday following the departure of US President Donald Trump from Riyadh to Doha, highlighting a series of key regional and bilateral developments.

Farhan described Trump’s visit as a “turning point” in Saudi-US relations, underscoring the depth of the long-standing strategic partnership, particularly in defense and security cooperation. He noted that Saudi investments in the United States are guided by the principle of safeguarding the Kingdom’s national interests.

In a notable development, Farhan welcomed Trump’s decision, which was announced from Riyadh, to lift US sanctions on Syria, calling it “a crucial step toward regional stability.” He also expressed hope that European nations would follow suit, adding that Saudi Arabia is prepared to play a central role in the economic recovery of Syria.

Additionally, the Foreign Minister underscored a high-level meeting that brought together Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, President Trump, Syrian President Ahmad el-Chareh and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The leaders reportedly agreed on the need to support Syria’s stabilization and reconstruction efforts.

“The Syrian people are educated and capable of leading their country into a new era of development and prosperity,” Farhan emphasized.

Addressing the war in Gaza, Farhan stressed the shared US-Saudi commitment to ending the conflict and ensuring the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid. In this context, he made clear that “aid should be allowed into Gaza without preconditions.”

Farhan also confirmed that the discussions with the US President covered a wide range of regional issues, including the Iranian nuclear file. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s support for continued dialogue between Washington and Tehran, expressing hope for “tangible progress” in upcoming negotiations.
