France is "ready to open" a discussion on deploying French aircraft armed with nuclear bombs in other European countries, similar to the U.S. nuclear sharing arrangement, President Emmanuel Macron announced Tuesday on TF1.

"I will define the framework officially in the coming weeks and months," Macron said, outlining three conditions for this reflection on French nuclear deterrence: "France will not pay for the security of others," "this will not come at the expense of our own needs," and "the final decision will always rest with the President of the Republic, as commander-in-chief."

Sanctions 'in Coming Days'

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday that European countries planned to impose new sanctions against Russia "in the coming days" if Moscow did not agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.

"Our intention is to impose sanctions" if Russia fails to comply with a ceasefire in Ukraine proposed by Kyiv's European allies, Macron said during an interview with TF1 television.

Macron stressed that "no legal framework" existed to seize frozen Russian assets, adding that it was "not a good solution."

"Unacceptable" and "Shameful"

Macron accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of "unacceptable" and "shameful" behavior in blocking aid to the Palestinians in Gaza.

"What the government of Benjamin Netanyahu is doing is unacceptable... There is no water, no medicine, the wounded cannot get out, and the doctors cannot get in. What he is doing is shameful," Macron told TF1 television. "We need the United States. President (Donald) Trump has the levers. I have had tough words with Prime Minister Netanyahu. I got angry, but they (Israel) don't depend on us; they depend on American weapons," he added.
