The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) on Tuesday called on the Israeli military to fully withdraw from Lebanese territory. UNIFIL also emphasized its strong coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces and reaffirmed its ongoing support for them.
The appeal comes after UNIFIL’s Head of Mission and Force Commander, Lieutenant General Aroldo Lázaro, on Monday, described the situation in southern Lebanon as “more stable than a few months ago, but still fragile.” In a statement posted on X, Lázaro also reaffirmed the commitment of UN peacekeepers to maintaining calm and supporting the conditions necessary for a political resolution.
The situation is more stable than a few months ago, but it's still fragile. @UNIFIL_ peacekeepers remain committed to peace and stability in south Lebanon and continue supporting conditions for a political solution.

Despite the ceasefire agreement reached on November 27, 2024, brokered by the United States and France, Hezbollah reportedly redeployed its fighters north of the Litani River, in line with the accord and Israeli forces have maintained a presence in areas they consider critical for preventing Hezbollah’s return to the border.
In the months since the truce, Israel has also conducted targeted strikes in southern Lebanon, aimed at dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure and preventing militant movements south of the Litani.
