The Directorate General of Civil Defense announced on Friday that it has raised its operational readiness to 100% ahead of the first phase of Lebanon’s municipal elections, set to kick off this weekend in the Mount Lebanon Governorate.

The heightened alert will be in effect from 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 3, through 8:00 AM on Monday, May 5.

In preparation, all firefighting and emergency medical teams within the designated electoral districts have been placed on full standby to ensure rapid response capabilities and maintain public safety throughout the electoral process.

Field deployment of personnel and vehicles is scheduled to begin at 5:00 AM on Sunday, May 4. Units will be stationed at key intersections and in proximity to polling stations as part of a coordinated emergency response plan.

The Civil Defense has also established a joint field monitoring center tasked with round-the-clock oversight and coordination to facilitate immediate intervention if needed.

Reaffirming its commitment to supporting this national event, the directorate called on the public to report emergencies by dialing 125 or via WhatsApp at 70 192 693.
