Lebanon’s Chief Public Prosecutor, Judge Jamal Hajjar, announced that the Lebanese authorities are awaiting detailed intelligence from Jordanian agencies to begin a full-scale investigation into a recently uncovered sabotage plot targeting the Hashemite Kingdom.

“We are waiting for the arrival of security information from Jordanian agencies to immediately start an extensive investigation into the case,” Hajjar stated, emphasizing Lebanon’s readiness to cooperate fully within the bounds of the law. “Lebanon’s judicial cooperation is not only with Jordan but with all countries of the world.”

This comes in the wake of Jordan’s announcement on April 15 of the arrest of 16 individuals accused of plotting large-scale attacks inside Jordan. According to the General Intelligence Department, the suspects – reportedly linked to the Muslim Brotherhood – had received training and financial support in Lebanon, raising regional concerns about cross-border militant operations.

Among the 16 detained, three were identified as members of the Muslim Brotherhood. The group is accused of planning attacks on Jordanian territory, establishing a rocket manufacturing site and a drone workshop, and stockpiling explosives and firearms. Intelligence reports revealed the presence of at least one missile ready for launch with a range of three to five kilometers.

The suspects were referred to the State Security Court, where they face terrorism-related charges, including the manufacture and concealment of weapons, possession of explosives, and participation in a project to build drones and rockets.
