Tensions in southern Lebanon escalated sharply on Sunday as Israeli warplanes launched a series of intense airstrikes across multiple areas, targeting what were described as Hezbollah military sites and rocket launch platforms.

A security source told Al Hadath that the Israeli military is “currently attacking Hezbollah’s infrastructure and missile launching sites,” marking a major escalation after the ceasefire agreement.

Israeli fighter jets bombed several locations in the region, including Sajad, Louaizeh and Jabal Safi in the Jabal al-Rihan area of Jezzine. Strikes were also reported in the areas of Bsaliyeh and between the towns of Arnoun and Yohmor al-Shaqif, shaking the region of Iqlim al-Tuffah with violent explosions.

Precision Strikes

Earlier in the day, an Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle at midday in the Kawthariyat al-Sayyad area, South Lebanon.

The Lebanese Civil Defense confirmed the recovery of two dead bodies, where four vehicles were also destroyed by fire. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, which spread to the Breqaa–Qsaybah road following the bombardment.

By late afternoon, Hezbollah had confirmed that the man who was killed, named Hussein Ali Nasr, was from its ranks. The Israeli army announced that it had eliminated “the deputy head of Hezbollah's 4400 unit.”

Another drone strike targeted the southern town of Hula, with no information about possible casualties yet. The Ministry's Emergency Operations Center issued a statement announcing that the Israeli raid on a house resulted in the death of its owner.

The recent escalations follow a statement by the Lebanese Army Intelligence Directorate on Sunday morning, announcing that it thwarted a planned rocket attack targeting Israel.
