The Israeli military announced that a soldier was killed on Saturday during fighting in Gaza — the first fatality since the collapse of a ceasefire with Hamas in mid-March.

According to the military, Sergeant Major Ghaleb Sliman Al-Nasasra, 35, was killed in combat in northern Gaza. Three other soldiers were wounded, including two women.

Since launching the ground offensive in Gaza on October 27, 2023, at least 412 Israeli soldiers have been killed.

The war in Gaza erupted following Hamas's unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
