In his message for the Easter holiday, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai called for an end to wars and advocated for comprehensive educational reform in Lebanon.

The Patriarch made a heartfelt appeal for peace, stating, “Enough wars, arms manufacturing and weapons trade. The world needs bread, not guns. It is time to put an end to abortions and the killing of innocents.”

He also devoted part of his message to the state of Lebanon’s education sector, stressing that in the face of mounting crises, there is an urgent need to launch a national educational reform initiative rooted in the right to education as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

According to him, “This reform cannot succeed without constructive dialogue involving all stakeholders in the education sector, with the goal of enacting fair legislation that protects the rights of every member of the educational community.”
