Tensions flared once again along Lebanon’s southern border on Wednesday following a series of Israeli drone strikes, including a targeted assassination on the Wadi al-Hujeir road. The Israeli military confirmed the operation, saying it had eliminated a member of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force.
Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, announced the strike via X (formerly Twitter), stating: “An Air Force drone attacked and eliminated a saboteur from Hezbollah’s Radwan Force in the Qantara area of southern Lebanon.”
Earlier in the day, another Israeli drone strike targeted a motorcycle in the village of Hanin, killing one civilian and injuring another, according to a statement from Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.
Separately, Israeli bulldozers were reported leveling a road adjacent to the border wall in the Hadab-Khallet Warda area near Aita al-Chaab. The move came amid intensified military activity along the border, as the region braces for further escalation.
LAF Detonation Notice
In a related development, the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) announced the planned detonation of unexploded ordnance in the village of Bednayel (Koura) between 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, as part of ongoing clearance operations.
Escalation Overnight
Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, Israeli forces launched a wave of strikes targeting multiple locations across southern Lebanon. Local sources reported that Israeli shelling hit prefabricated housing units and areas allegedly associated with Hezbollah activity.
Among the affected sites was the Civil Defense Center in Tayr Harfa (Tyre District), which sustained damage from Israeli artillery fire. Two temporary housing structures in the same town were also struck. Similar bombardments were recorded in the town of Chihine.
The escalation culminated in three consecutive Israeli airstrikes on Wadi al-Mozlem, located on the outskirts of Ramya in the Bint Jbeil District. The Israeli military claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating they had targeted "Hezbollah military infrastructure."
The latest series of strikes underscores the growing volatility along the Lebanon-Israel border, where hostilities have steadily increased amid broader regional tensions.
