The Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water is grappling with a major administrative shortfall, with 85% of its top-tier (first-category) positions vacant and a complete absence of second-category staff, according to a report by MTV television channel.

This effectively leaves the Ministry’s most critical functions in the hands of interim appointees, with no permanent officials in place.

In the midst of this crisis, the Ministry is preparing to launch a formal call for applications to establish the long-awaited Energy Sector Regulatory Authority. Prospective candidates will be given six weeks to submit their CVs.

The selection process is set to be carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Administrative Reform and will include joint interviews to evaluate applicants.
