In a much-needed boost to Lebanon’s strained healthcare system, the Ministry of Public Health received on Thursday a significant donation of dialysis supplies from the World Health Organization (WHO), funded by Ireland and the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).

The shipment will support 24,000 dialysis sessions, helping around 500 patients over a four-month period.

The supplies are set to be distributed across 19 public hospitals with dialysis centers, offering vital relief to patients suffering from chronic kidney disease, many of whom are among the country’s most vulnerable.

Public Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine hailed the donation as a powerful act of international solidarity.

“This generous contribution speaks volumes about the global community’s commitment to supporting Lebanon during one of its most difficult times,” he said.

He also made clear that this step “directly helps those who need it most: patients who rely on regular dialysis to survive.”

Nassereddine further emphasized that dialysis patients are among the Ministry’s top priorities.

“We fully understand the severity of their condition and the critical importance of uninterrupted treatment,” he stated, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring consistent care and securing long-term support for these patients.
