The Lebanese army inspected Wednesday evening the area where Hezbollah is allegedly trying, according to Tel Aviv, to set up a warehouse for producing weapons, in the Choueifat district, in the southern suburb of Beirut.

Earlier, the Israeli army had accused the Iran-backed group of attempting to rebuild its arsenal by rehabilitating some of its structures in the southern suburb of Beirut.

Its Spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced via his X account that Hezbollah has been trying in recent months to reconstruct an underground site for the production of weapons in the heart of the Choueifat neighborhood in the southern suburb of Beirut, which was built near a school and under residential buildings, after it was targeted in November 2024.

He added, “Information about these attempts was conveyed in early January to the monitoring mechanism, and accordingly a surprise inspection was scheduled at the site, but aerial images showed that Hezbollah, which knew in advance about the date of the inspection, evacuated the engineering machinery that was working at the site on the day the inspection was conducted, and returned it after it was completed.”

“This dangerous activity is a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon as part of the ceasefire agreement.”

“The Israeli Army remains committed to the continued implementation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, and will continue to work to remove any threat to the State of Israel and prevent any attempted positioning by Hezbollah.”
