A member of the prestigious Club Faraya Mzaar, a historic cradle of ski champions in Lebanon, the representative of the Lebanese national team has just delivered a top-level performance for Lebanese skiing in Greece. On the occasion of the International Alpine Skiing Championships organized in Vasilitsa, Sara Zeidan brilliantly won the bronze medal in slalom, after a tough competition bringing together 25 skiers from five European countries.

She planted her poles, cut the turns, swallowed the gates… and, above all, raised the Lebanese flag high on a European podium. Lebanese skier Sara Zeidan, a pure product of the legendary Club Faraya Mzaar, struck hard on the international scene by offering herself a superb bronze medal during the International Alpine Skiing Championships organized in Vasilitsa, Greece.

A Warrior’s Race, a Podium with a Special Taste

That day, in Vasilitsa, you needed nerves of steel and velvet footing to tame the tight gates and treacherous reliefs of a slope as icy as polished Greek marble. And in a particularly harsh context for Lebanese sport – between economic crises, unpredictable weather conditions and limited resources – the young skier continues to carve her path, fierce and talented, on the international slopes.

Lined up in the slalom events – the discipline of pure technicians, where hundredths of seconds matter and mistakes are costly –the Lebanese representative demonstrated her fighting spirit and competitive instinct. Against a tough field of 25 skiers from five European nations, Zeidan managed to master the gates and tame capricious snow to secure a precious bronze medal.

A podium with a taste of revenge for the Faraya athlete, used to training in far from ideal conditions, but who makes up for it with a granite mentality shaped on the slopes of Mount Lebanon.

A Medal Forged with Sweat and Talent

Competing in two slalom races, the young Lebanese hopeful imposed her aggressive style and surgical precision on particularly demanding snow. Far from being a miracle or a stroke of luck, this medal is the result of years of hard work and serious preparation despite obstacles.

“Carrying the Lebanese flag on an international podium is a tremendous source of pride,” said the champion. “Behind this medal, there are years of training on the slopes of Mount Lebanon, personal sacrifices, and the precious support of my club and my family.”

Faraya Mzaar, the Den of Lebanese Skiers

Founded in the 1960s, Club Faraya Mzaar is much more than a simple ski club: it is an institution, a factory of champions, a haven for die-hard mountain lovers. In the heart of the emblematic Mzaar ski resort, it has seen generations of skiers parade by, brandishing Lebanese colors on Arab, regional and international stages.

Despite the often precarious conditions in which Lebanese athletes operate, the club continues to train and support passionate young talents. Zeidan’s success fits perfectly into this tradition of excellence and resilience.

Heading to Cortina 2026

Like many Lebanese skiers, Zeidan is lining up international competitions after the end of the short ski season in Lebanon. The objective is clear: collect as many FIS (International Ski Federation) points as possible, climb the world ranking, and move closer to a historic qualification for the Winter Olympic Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy) in 2026.

Lebanese skiing, carried by young talents like Sara Zeidan, continues to fight against all odds to exist on the world stage. An admirable adventure, woven from passion, perseverance and bravery – like this bronze medal earned through fierce struggle on the Greek slopes.

For the mountain is harsh… but the Lebanese are tougher.
