A bill proposing an increase in end-of-service indemnities for public and private employees has been introduced. Under this proposal, indemnities would be multiplied by 30.

Applicable to amounts received or owed after October 17, 2019, until the minimum wage increase to 18 million Lebanese pounds takes effect, the bill excludes public sector employees from certain institutions not governed by labor legislation, such as the Educational Center for Research and Development, which is funded by the state budget.

Calls have been made to extend this measure to all workers who have not received a salary increase since 2017, including those in institutions like the Educational Center, to ensure fairness in indemnities.

The costs of this measure will be shared between the Ministry of Finance and employers.
