Beirut Stock Exchange: Trading Volume Drops 80%!

The Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) saw a sharp decline in activity during the week of March 14, with trading volume dropping to 115,916 shares, compared to 570,083 the previous week. The total value of transactions also decreased, falling to $3.44 million from $4.94 million the week before, according to a report by Banque du Crédit Libanais.

 

 

The trading activity was predominantly driven by banking sector stocks, which represented 74.55% of the weekly transaction volume. Additionally, the average daily trading volume plummeted to 23,183 shares, down from 114,017 shares the previous week, while the average daily transaction value also contracted to $0.69 million, compared to $0.99 million a week earlier.
