Speaker Nabih Berri stated that “Lebanon will not surrender, under any circumstances, regardless of the intensity of the pressures, a single inch of its territory, nor any sovereign right.” “Lebanon will use all available means to protect its rights, preserve them, and liberate what remains of our territory from Israeli occupation,” Mr. Berri assured during a meeting with a delegation from the new executive committee of the Association of Specializations and Scientific Orientation, in Ain El-Tineh.
His remarks follow a statement by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who confirmed on Friday that the Israeli army would remain in the five sites it controls in Lebanon “for an indefinite period.”
On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had announced that Israel would “not surrender” these five positions.
Mr. Berri declared that "the preservation of Lebanon is through the preservation of its southern part," emphasizing that this is a "common national responsibility and must be a point of consensus and unity, not division."
