In a unique collaboration with Apple Music, King Charles III will unveil his personal playlist featuring iconic artists like Bob Marley and Grace Jones, celebrating the diverse musical cultures of the Commonwealth. The playlist, launched for Commonwealth Day, will offer a glimpse into the monarch's personal connection to music.

King Charles III is set to share his personal Commonwealth music playlist in an exciting new collaboration with Apple Music. The playlist, which features a diverse mix of genres including reggae, disco, and Afrobeat, will be made available on Monday, March 10, in honor of Commonwealth Day. Among the artists included in the monarch's selections are legendary figures such as Bob Marley and Grace Jones, along with contemporary stars like Kylie Minogue, Nigerian artist Davido, and British singer Raye.

The initiative, titled The King's Music Room, offers a unique insight into the musical tastes of the British monarch, highlighting his appreciation for a broad range of styles. According to a press release from Apple, King Charles has long been a fan of music, and the playlist reflects a surprising blend of old and new influences that span different cultures and eras. The King will also share personal anecdotes and reflections from his meetings with some featured artists during the broadcast.

Recorded in his office at Buckingham Palace, the show will air on Apple Music 1, with the first episode available for streaming at 6:00 AM GMT on Monday. In a trailer for the program, the King spoke candidly about his lifelong connection to music, acknowledging its profound emotional impact. “Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me,” he said, sitting at an antique desk in the Palace. “It has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back from the deepest recesses of our memory, to comfort us in times of sadness, and to take us to distant places.”

The King emphasized the unifying and uplifting qualities of music, saying, “But perhaps, above all, it can lift our spirits to such a degree, and all the more so when it brings us together in celebration. In other words, it brings us joy.”

This special collaboration with Apple Music is a rare opportunity for fans to hear directly from the King about the music that has shaped his life, and to explore the tracks that inspire him. The show promises to be a personal and heartfelt experience, blending the royal's musical influences with meaningful stories from his encounters with artists.
