Israel is preparing to open its sole ski resort, located on Mount Hermon at the border with Lebanon and Syria, after allowing residents of nearby border villages to return home starting March 1. The announcement came on Sunday, signaling a return to normalcy in this border area.

Israeli military spokesperson Avichai Adraee, in a post on his X account, said that the Mountain Brigade (810) has completed preparations for the resort's reopening. "The brigade has finished the necessary arrangements for the ski resort on Mount Hermon to welcome visitors," he said.

Adraee, who also emphasized “the brigade's role in securing Israel’s northern borders, both within Israeli territory and in enemy territory,” added that “a thorough security assessment had been conducted in collaboration with relevant authorities before moving forward with the reopening.”

"The security conditions required to safely open the resort to visitors from across the country have been met," Adraee added.

The resort features 14 ski slopes, along with shops, cafes and restaurants.
