Tilda Swinton takes on a new artistic role as the curator and scenographer of Supersonic Mediaeval, an exhibition showcasing the work of designer Marianna Kennedy at Christie’s Paris. The non-selling exhibition highlights Kennedy’s distinctive creations, blending historical inspiration with contemporary craftsmanship.
British actress Tilda Swinton will serve as the curator and scenographer of an exhibition dedicated to her friend and compatriot, designer Marianna Kennedy, at Christie’s in Paris from May 5 to 11, the auction house announced on Friday.
This non-selling exhibition is entirely envisioned by Swinton, who designed the staging and décor, according to Christie’s.
Titled Supersonic Mediaeval, the exhibition showcases some of Marianna Kennedy’s most striking creations, including sculpted mirrors, translucent resin lamps, bronze consoles, and lacquered tables infused with rare mineral pigments.
Kennedy’s contemporary practice draws inspiration from London’s historic Spitalfields district, where she has set up her workshop. Once known for its silk manufacturing, the area is now celebrated for its rich architectural heritage, vibrant markets, art galleries, and renowned restaurants.
Recently seen in Pedro Almodóvar’s The Room Next Door, 64-year-old Swinton was honored this year with a Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival.
