Security Meetings Ahead of Nasrallah's Funeral on Sunday

Two security meetings were held on Friday, two days ahead of the funeral of former Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah. The first meeting took place in the morning in Baabda, chaired by President Joseph Aoun, during which “planned security measures were discussed.”

A second meeting followed in the afternoon at the Ministry of Interior. Following the meeting, Minister Ahmad Hajjar announced that he had been briefed on the exceptional measures that would be implemented to “ensure security and maintain public order.”

Salam to Arab Diplomats: Lebanon Will Not Be a Platform for Attacks Against Arab Countries

During a meeting with Arab diplomats at the Grand Serail on Friday, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam assured them that Lebanon “will not be a platform for attacks against Arab and friendly countries.”

He also informed them of the diplomatic efforts he is undertaking to secure a full Israeli withdrawal from South Lebanon. Additionally, Salam invited Arab nations to “resume their investments and encourage tourism in Lebanon, given the new conditions that the government is striving to establish.”

From Beirut, a US Congressional Delegation Reaffirms Support for the Lebanese Army

A US Congressional delegation, led by Senator Darrell Issa, visited Beirut on Friday, accompanied by US Ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson. The delegation met with the Lebanese president and prime minister.

Discussions covered “security challenges, the implementation of Resolution 1701, the return of investments to Lebanon and Lebanon-Syria relations,” according to Issa.

The US Congress members reaffirmed “the United States’ continued support for Lebanon in various fields, particularly for the Lebanese Army.”

During the meeting, Salam emphasized the importance of “increased US pressure on Israel to ensure a complete withdrawal from South Lebanon.”
