
Colombian pop star Shakira resumes her world tour after a sudden hospitalization forced her to cancel a show in Peru. Despite the health scare, she is set to perform nearly 50 dates across Latin America before heading to the United States and Canada.
Colombian pop star Shakira said her concert in Peru on Monday will go ahead, a day after she called off another performance due to a sudden hospitalization.
The singer-songwriter, 48, went to the emergency room on Saturday night and was briefly admitted to the hospital, prompting her to cancel a show on Sunday.
Shakira wrote on Instagram on Monday that the gates to the National Stadium in Lima will open at 4:00 pm (2100 GMT) for a concert scheduled to start at 8:15 pm. The post made no reference to her health.
Events company Masterlive confirmed that Monday’s scheduled show will proceed as planned and stated that a new date for the canceled Sunday concert would be announced soon. Shakira is currently on her first world tour in seven years.
Titled Las mujeres ya no lloran (Women Don't Cry Anymore), the tour kicked off in Rio de Janeiro just days after she received a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album.
With more than 90 million records sold worldwide and four Grammy Awards to her name, along with numerous other accolades, Shakira remains one of the most popular Latin artists of all time.
She is set to perform nearly 50 dates across Latin America by the end of June, followed by concerts in the United States and Canada.
