President Joseph Aoun reiterated on Wednesday Lebanon’s readiness to implement the necessary reforms, as outlined in his inaugural address.
During a meeting with Ousmane Dione, the World Bank’s Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, President Aoun emphasized that one of the primary objectives of the new government will be to draft the required legislative frameworks to facilitate these reforms, according to the National News Agency.
In response, Dione reaffirmed the World Bank’s commitment to supporting Lebanon, stressing that every effort will be made to aid in the country’s reconstruction and recovery.
It is important to note that the implementation of these reforms is a prerequisite for unlocking approximately $3 billion in financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to be disbursed over four years.
However, no significant steps have been taken in this regard since 2022.
