Jean Gebran, the Director General of the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Authority, issued a dire warning about the water situation in Lebanon. He stressed that, without rain or snow, the country could face a major water crisis this summer. He stated, “Lebanon is experiencing its worst crisis due to the lack of rainfall and snow,” further specifying that “securing water resources is the responsibility of the entire government.

In an interview with radio station Voix du Liban, Gebran confirmed that efforts are ongoing to restore underground water wells in high-altitude mountain regions. This initiative demands substantial investment and fuel consumption, which is double the usual amount.
