The Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Beirut, Elias Audi, expressed hope for the formation of a new government that works “in harmony, knowledge and seriousness” to guide the country through its ongoing crises and into “the realms of true freedom, democracy, equality, citizenship and development.”
Audi emphasized the importance of gratitude in the context of Lebanon’s recent political progress, specifically referencing the election of a president, Joseph Aoun, and the appointment of a prime minister, Nawaf Salam.
“Let us thank God, we Lebanese, because He responded to our requests and revitalized the efforts of our parliamentarians, who elected a president and appointed a prime minister,” he said.
