Caretaker Minister of Health Firass Abiad announced that a plan to rebuild and rehabilitate public hospitals damaged by the war is being developed in collaboration with the World Bank. The plan primarily targets public hospitals in Marjayoun, Beit Lif, Shebaa, Sarafand and Tyre.
On Saturday morning, Abiad visited the government hospital in Marjayoun, a village that has suffered the devastating effects of the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, despite the ceasefire agreement of November 27, 2024.
After inspecting the hospital’s various departments, he reiterated the Ministry’s support for public hospitals and praised their role during the war.
He also referenced the Ministry’s plan, launched in early 2023, emphasizing the necessity of rehabilitating these hospitals to make them more resilient. He stated, “It is now essential to put these hospitals back on track and rehabilitate them (...) so they can once again provide care to the entire population, without exception.”
Abiad expressed gratitude to health workers, particularly those at the Marjayoun Governmental Hospital.
