The Syndicate of Mobile Phone Operators’ Employees in Lebanon announced that Caretaker Telecommunications Minister Johnny Corm has ruled out any promotions or salary increases for the time being.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Corm clarified that no promotions or new job opportunities were under consideration but reaffirmed employees’ rights and salaries. He also assured that there were no bad intentions regarding the salaries of Alfa employees, which he pledged would be processed and signed the same day.
The union reiterated to the minister that employees’ rights remain a top priority, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to secure them.
Furthermore, Corm noted that a meeting with the management of both mobile operators is scheduled for next week to resume discussions on raises and promotions.
The talks come amid growing discontent, with employees threatening to stage another strike if their demands are not met.
