Israeli activities along the border with Lebanon continue to gain momentum. As part of his visit to Lebanon, US envoy Amos Hochstein explained the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied areas in southern Lebanon. However, Israel's Channel 12, citing government sources in Tel Aviv, reported that Israel intends to establish itself in these localities and not evacuate them “for many years to come.”

On the ground, particularly in Mays al-Jabal in Marjayoun and Maroun al-Ras in the Bint Jbeil district, Israeli forces have conducted sweeping operations using machine guns. Residents of Maroun al-Ras reported the sound of military vehicles entering the area on Wednesday morning. Artillery shelling was also reported targeting the Marjayoun plain.

In Bint Jbeil, a Merkava tank shell targeted the house of the town's president of the municipality. A neighboring house was also targeted. Additionally, several reconnaissance aircraft were spotted flying over Tripoli on Wednesday morning and later over Baalbeck and nearby villages.

Lebanese Army Deployment in Naqoura

Coinciding with the visit of US envoy Amos Hochstein to Beirut, the border town of Naqoura witnessed a complete withdrawal of the Israeli Army. Completely devastated by the daily bombardments that continued even after the ceasefire was declared on November 27, the area saw the deployment of Lebanese armed forces. With the arrival of the first civilians, some sixty fishermen rushed to the port of Naqoura to inspect their boats, some of which had sunk and others had been damaged.

According to information reported by the daily an-Nahar, the sailors explained that their return to work depended on a decision by the Lebanese Army, hoping that the green light would be given quickly and that they would be paid compensation for the damage suffered.
