Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati had a call with the leader of the new Syrian administration Ahmed Al-Sharaa Friday evening, the first contact between them since the ouster of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad early last month.
They discussed bilateral relations and emergency issues between the two countries, notably the border clashes between the Lebanese army and Syrian armed men during which four soldiers were injured.
Sharaa assured Mikati that the Syrian security agencies did everything that is necessary to restore calm on the border and prevent a recurrence of similar confrontations.
At the end of the call, Sharaa invited Mikati to visit Syria in order to discuss issues of common interest and strengthen bilateral relations
