The Houthis said new airstrikes hit northern Yemen on Saturday, shortly after claiming responsibility for a missile attack on Israel.

A Houthi military statement reported that the airstrikes targeted the Buhais area in the Medi district of Hajjah province, attributing the attacks to "US-British aggression."

There was no immediate comment from London or Washington.

The Houthis made a similar claim on Friday, stating that a raid had hit a park in the capital, Sanaa.

Hostilities between the Houthis and Israel have also escalated in recent days, following a series of Houthi missile attacks that prompted deadly Israeli airstrikes on Thursday. Six people were killed, including four at Sanaa airport, where World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was waiting for a flight.

On Saturday, the Houthis claimed to have "successfully" targeted the Negev Airbase south of Jerusalem with a ballistic missile. Earlier, Israeli officials reported that a missile launched from Yemen was shot down.

The Houthis, part of the "axis of resistance" of Iran-allied groups, have been firing missiles at Israel and ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in solidarity with Palestinians since the outbreak of the war in Gaza last year.
