Lebanon once again made its collective strength known against Kuwait (2-0) in a friendly match on Sunday in Qatar.

Lebanon confirmed its good form by winning another victory against Kuwait (2-0) in the second friendly match between the two teams, played at the Sheim Bin Hamad stadium in Qatar. This victory follows the 2-1 success recorded last Thursday on the pitch of the Hamad Bin Khalifa stadium, marking a perfect record in this double confrontation.

A Dazzling Start to the Match

The match started with a bang for the men of coach Miroslav Radulović. Despite the absence of nine professional players, the team managed to show impressive cohesion. In the 4th minute, Lebanon opened the scoring thanks to a superb collective move. Hussein Charefeddine found Mohamed Safwan on the left wing, who delivered a pinpoint cross to Ali Kassas who, after a perfect control, sent the ball into the top corner of the goal of Khaled Al-Rashidi, the Kuwaiti goalkeeper.

An Implacable Defense

Kuwait, despite its intensive preparation for the 2026 Gulf Cup and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, failed to reverse the trend. Lebanon showed a strong defense, led by Khalil Khamis and Qassem Zein, who neutralized the Kuwaiti attacks. In the 41st minute, Lebanon doubled the score in a spectacular way. After a throw-in from Qassem Zein into the box, Khalil Khamis struck the ball with a powerful volley. The ball bounced off the crossbar before finishing in the back of the net to give the Lebanese team a 2-0 lead.

A Controlled Second Half

In the second half, although Kuwait intensified its efforts to come back into the game, Lebanon remained solid and well-organized. Mustafa Matar made several crucial saves, including one against Abdullah in the 67th minute and another against substitute Mouaz Al-Anizi in the 82nd minute. Lebanon also had the opportunity to extend the score, but a free kick from Mohamed Safwan was superbly saved by Al-Rashidi.

A Historic Turning Point for Lebanon

This success represents much more than just a sporting victory. In addition to validating a third consecutive match with two or more goals, this victory marks Lebanon’s return to the top after several difficult years. The team proved its resilience in the face of internal and external adversities, notably the persistent effects of the war, and regained valuable confidence ahead of upcoming international challenges.
