The Lebanese Forces (LF) and the Change Movement filed a complaint on Wednesday against former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad and members of his regime, accusing them of abducting Lebanese nationals.
At the Palace of Justice, Elie Mahfoud, president of the Change Movement, stated, “We have submitted documented evidence and testimonies from individuals who were released from Syrian prisons.”
He clarified that the main request is for “an arrest warrant in absentia for Bashar al-Assad and his collaborators.” He further stated, “If this issue is not addressed, further actions are planned.”
Mahfoud also emphasized, “We are prepared to go to Syria to gather information about the detainees.”
In turn, former LF MP Eddy Abillama announced that his party has “filed a complaint against Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian state, the ministers of Interior and Defense, Ali Mamlouk (a key figure in the former Syrian regime), and all individuals named in the investigation.”
He stressed the LF’s commitment to “locating as many Lebanese detainees in Syrian prisons as possible.”
