Caretaker Minister of Industry George Bouchikian stated on Wednesday that fully assessing the damage caused by Israeli bombardment remains impossible, as around 40 localities are still under the control of the Israeli Army.

However, he assured that despite the scale of destruction, the industrial sector was “the least affected, with most damage being indirectly inflicted, resulting from workforce displacement and other factors.”

In an interview with “The Voice of Lebanon” radio station, he emphasized the importance of keeping everything under the authority of the state, labeling it as the cradle, foundation and starting point for any reform project.

He also noted that his ministry was coordinating with the Ministry of Agriculture to transform agricultural products into industrial goods, with inter-ministerial efforts underway to ease the burden on Lebanese citizens.

Regarding the 2025 budget, Bouchikian underscored the need “to reconsider the budget because the circumstances have changed.”
