The calm that had prevailed in southern Lebanon on Wednesday morning was abruptly disrupted by a number of Israeli strikes, machine-gun fires and incursions, in southern Lebanon.

Israeli Merkava tanks infiltrated the village of Yaroun, while Israeli forces carried out an incursion into Maroun al-Ras, accompanied by machine gun fire targeting Bint-Jbeil.

Additionally, airstrikes hit the area of Halta, and shots were fired at Lebanese intelligence personnel, the Lebanese Navy, and General Security forces who were inspecting the port of Naqoura. No injuries were reported.

Earlier that morning, the Israeli army fired artillery shells at the Khiam and Marjeyoun plains.

These attacks followed an operation targeting several homes in Khiam and Kfar Kila. A powerful explosion also occurred on the outskirts of Aitaroun, near Ainata.

As each morning since the ceasefire came into effect, on Wednesday, November 27, the Israeli army issued an urgent warning to residents of Lebanon, advising against traveling to the southern part of the country, particularly to the villages of Shebaa, Habbariye, Marjaayoun, Arnoun, Yohmor, Qantara, Chaqra, Baraachit, Yater, and Mansouri.

Other regions in southern Lebanon were also included in the warning.

Meanwhile, Lebanese soldiers returned to their positions in the Shebaa sector, observation points they had evacuated earlier due to the Israeli ground incursion.

Reconstruction and Humanitarian Aid

Hezbollah announced on Wednesday that it had begun assessing the material damage in the towns of Nabatiye and Kfarjoz.

According to a statement issued by the pro-Iranian group, restoration work on damaged homes began that morning under the supervision of engineers and experts.

The Hezb committed to covering housing costs for families whose homes had been destroyed, as well as providing financial compensation. These aids will be distributed in the form of checks through the group’s illegal financial institution, al-Qard al-Hassan.

This all occurred amid a total disregard for the state and its institutions.

Call for Rigorous Resource Management

Moreover, the National Authority of the Litani River called on the caretaker Minister of Interior, Bassam Mawlawi, to strengthen the enforcement of laws regulating extraction activities and to protect the natural resources of the Litani River.

The Authority also sent a letter urging Mawlawi to issue a circular prohibiting any non-compliant construction or reconstruction around the Litani River and its tributaries.

The goal is to preserve public river properties and prevent encroachments, such as illegal additions of permanent or temporary structures.

The Authority called on the relevant municipalities to reassess their urban planning and collaborate with the competent authorities to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
