The Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon, Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, met with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Grand Serail on Monday to discuss the ongoing Qatari humanitarian aid efforts in Lebanon.
The ambassador reported that 21 C-17 aircraft have landed in Lebanon to date, each delivering approximately 113 tons of aid, with 80% of the cargo being medical supplies.
This mission was coordinated with the Lebanese government, following a request from the emergency committee to the Qatari embassy.
Regarding Qatar’s involvement in post-war reconstruction, the ambassador clarified that discussions on this matter had not yet taken place.
“Our initial focus is on humanitarian assistance, and further phases will follow,” he stated.
The ambassador also congratulated Mikati on the successful implementation of the ceasefire with Israel, expressing confidence that tourism from Qatar to Lebanon will resume and life will return to normal.
