Both Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati received calls from French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday.
Berri's conversation with Macron focused on the overall situation in Lebanon, including the recent steps taken in relation to the ceasefire agreement and Israeli violations, as well as preparations for the upcoming presidential elections.
Meanwhile, Mikati's call with Macron addressed the current situation in Lebanon following the implementation of the ceasefire. They also discussed the progress of the decisions made at the recent Lebanon Support Conference in Paris.
During their call, Mikati expressed gratitude to President Macron for his ongoing support for Lebanon, particularly in helping to halt the Israeli aggression and facilitating the understanding reached on the matter.
Mikati reassured Macron that the Lebanese Army had begun deploying in the South, the Beqaa Valley and the southern suburbs. He also highlighted preparations to strengthen military presence in the South Litani area.
The caretaker prime minister reiterated Lebanon's call for increased pressure on Israel to halt its violations of the ceasefire agreement, which, according to recent reports, led to injuries and material damage.
