Despite reports of an impending ceasefire, fighting between Hezbollah and Israel continued with increasing violence on Tuesday.

The Israeli Army Radio declared that troops from the Golani Brigade reached the Litani River, an area 10 kilometers inside Lebanese territory.

In parallel, the Israeli army spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, announced that Israel will continue to target Hezbollah leaders and said it has eliminated the commander of the operations system on the coastal sector, Ahmed Sobhi Hazimeh. There was no information on where and when Hazimeh was targeted.

Following an evacuation message from Adraee, a series of simultaneous raids hit the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Earlier, Adraee had issued two urgent warnings to all residents of Burj al-Barajneh and Tahwitat al-Ghadir on his X account.

In southern Lebanon, Israeli fighter jets carried out an airstrike on a house in Jdeidet Marjayoun, destroying it and creating a hole of about 4 meters in diameter.

Another raid was reported on Deir al-Zahrani, while warplanes bombarded Al-Sayyar neighborhood in Kfar Rumman town, resulting in three injuries. One person was also killed in Yohmor al-Shaqif in an air-raid that leveled a house and a commercial center.

A second airstrike targeted an open area in Dohat Kafr Rumman. Other targeted areas include Maashouq in the suburb of Tyre, the town of Deir Antar in Bint Jbeil district, Chamaa and Tayr Harfa, amid artillery shelling on the Zebqine Reserve Valley and Hamoul Valley in Naqoura and the outskirts of Qlayleh.

Warplanes also destroyed a building in Nabatiyeh.

Moreover, Israeli troops are still fanning out in border communities and conducting raids and artillery firing in the areas of Khiam, Ainata, Kounine, Bint Jbeil, al-Tiri, Hanine and Rshaf since Monday night.

For its part, Hezbollah announced targeting the settlement of Kiryat Shmona with a salvo of “quality rockets.”

Moreover, the pro-Iranian group claimed to have struck a Merkava tank with a guided missile near the Municipality of Khiam, “leading to its destruction and wounding its crew.”

Israeli Precautions Ahead of Anticipated Ceasefire

In Israel, the threat of rockets and drones persists. According to Israeli media, events are to be cancelled and the majority of schools are to remain closed in the Golan Heights and northern border settlements.

Authorities fear Hezbollah may step up its attacks before the anticipated ceasefire announcement.

In this context, the Israeli Channel 13 announced on Tuesday that the army is preparing for Hezbollah’s “last rocket bursts before the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.”

Furthermore, Israeli media revealed that the ceasefire will be on track tomorrow, on Wednesday at 6:00 AM.

The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth stated that there is “hardly any intact building on the border towns with Lebanon,” indicating that “most homes require repair or demolishing.”
