On Monday morning, Israeli airstrikes targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut. This follows recent evacuation orders issued to residents of the Haret Hreik neighborhood. The airstrikes are the latest in a series of strikes aimed at Beirut and its southern suburbs, as the Israeli army intensifies operations across Lebanon.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichae Adraee warned the citizens of Haret Hreik in the southern suburbs of Beirut, on Monday in a statement on his X account, to “leave the region immediately for your safety and the safety of your family members, for a distance of no less than 500 meters.”

In a previous message, he also urged the residents of the southern town of Helta to “immediately evacuate their houses and move to north of al-Awali river without delay.”

Beirut’s southern suburbs had witnessed a tense night after being subjected to a total of 12 Israeli airstrikes following continuous evacuation warnings issued by Adraee.

Ceasefire Negotiations

On the other hand, ceasefire negotiations kept pace. Two senior Israeli officials and two US officials told US media Axios that Israel and Lebanon are close to reaching a ceasefire agreement to end the Israel-Hezbollah conflict.

The same source claims that the proposed peace agreement calls for a 60-day transition phase during which Hezbollah would relocate its heavy weaponry north of the Litani River, the Lebanese army would station itself near the border and the Israeli military would leave southern Lebanon.

Additionally, a US-led oversight body is included in the proposed agreement to keep an eye on implementation and deal with infractions, according to Israeli media.

Netanyahu

Also according to Israeli media, on Sunday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly agreed in principle to a ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon, supported by the United States.

After holding high-level meetings on the issue, Netanyahu is currently preparing to present the ceasefire to the public.

The discussion took place while the Air Force repeatedly struck Hezbollah locations in Beirut, and Israel was bombarded with rocket fire from Lebanon all day long.

The reports on Kan, Ynet and Haaretz, which cited officials in Jerusalem, Washington and Beirut, all noted that approval of the proposal was not final, and that several issues must still be ironed out, but that Jerusalem had agreed to the main tenets of the proposal. According to Ynet, this had been conveyed to Lebanon.

Israeli military movements

The Israeli army continues its attempts to take control of Khiam, according to the National News Agency (NNA). Clashes between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli soldiers have been reported in the vicinity of Khiam municipality. Israeli Merkava tanks advanced towards the  former detention center to the south of the town, under cover of artillery and phosphorus raids and bombardments on the center of Khiam.

Israeli military movements were also seen in Deir Mimas, where soldiers and tanks were deployed in the olive groves and surrounding areas.

The Israeli army had entered Deir Mimas on Saturday, advancing towards Tal el-Nahas, Kfar Kila and Kleyaa, where it was targeted four times by Hezbollah. Residents of Deir Mimas told NNA that Israeli forces dynamited certain areas of the village, as far as the localities bordering the Litani river. They also reported continuous bombardments targeting the citadel of Shkif.

Other clashes took place on Monday morning in Shamaa, between an Israeli motorized patrol and Hezbollah, as well as in Maroun el-Ras, Ainata and Bint Jbeil.

For its part, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for attacks on the settlement of Shtula and the Shraga base, the administrative headquarters of the Golani brigade command, north of Acre.

The pro-Iranian group also announced that it had targeted Israeli troop deployments in southern Lebanon, notably in Khiam, Shamaa and Bayyada.

On the Israeli side, the ambulance service revealed that one person had been injured in Nahariya as a result of falling missile shrapnel.

In addition, warning sirens sounded in Nahariya and localities in the western Galilee.

In addition, a suspicious aerial target was intercepted after a drone infiltrated the Western Galilee.

A house was targeted in Jennata, caza of Tyre, while a raid targeted Yohmor-Shkif in Nabatiye. At the same time, artillery fire rained down on Khiam, while several villages in the Nabatiye region remained under Israeli fire.

Air strikes continued throughout Sunday night and into Monday morning in villages of the Nabatiyeh district. Fifteen houses were destroyed in raids in Yohmor-Shkif.

On Sunday, dozens of Israeli strikes rocked the southern suburbs of Beirut, while Hezbollah fired several hundred projectiles at numerous Israeli areas, including Tel Aviv.

This surprising number of missiles is reminiscent of the statement made on Friday by Ali Larijani, senior advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, that Hezbollah “has not (yet) used its major weapons.”
