Tickets for Glastonbury 2025 sold out in just 35 minutes, with the world-famous festival set to host over 200,000 attendees. Known for its rich history and stellar lineups, it remains a hallmark of British culture.
Tickets for next year’s Glastonbury Festival sold out in an astonishing 35 minutes on Sunday morning, marking yet another rapid sell-out for the globally celebrated event. More than 200,000 attendees are expected to descend upon Worthy Farm, the festival’s iconic site in rural southwest England, from June 25 to 29, 2025.
Sales began at 9:00 a.m. (0900 GMT) and, by 9:35 a.m., organisers announced via social media platform X that tickets were gone. "Tickets for Glastonbury 2025 have now sold out," they posted. "Thanks to everyone who bought one and sorry to those who missed out, on a morning when demand was much higher than supply. There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in spring 2025."
A Star-Studded Legacy
Glastonbury’s reputation as a cultural cornerstone continues to grow. This year, fans eagerly anticipate the announcement of headliners, following 2024’s acclaimed performances by British-Albanian pop star Dua Lipa and indie giants Coldplay. Organisers have reportedly already begun securing top-tier acts for 2025, ensuring the festival maintains its tradition of attracting global talent.
The festival has become synonymous with British summer, a spectacle of sprawling tents and vibrant festivities. Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, transforms annually into a mecca for music lovers. First held in 1970 as the Pilton Festival, Glastonbury’s roots lie in the counterculture and hippie movements of the 1960s. That inaugural event, headlined by glam rockers T. Rex, set the stage for its evolution into a cultural institution.
Over the years, Glastonbury has hosted an array of legendary performers, from David Bowie and Paul McCartney to Stormzy and Elton John, who played his final UK show at the festival in 2023.
What Awaits in 2025
The 2025 event promises to deliver the multifaceted experience that has cemented Glastonbury’s iconic status. Attendees can expect around 3,000 performances across 80 stages, ranging from music acts to spoken word and theatrical performances. The festival also offers art installations, night-long parties, and parades, creating an immersive cultural experience that goes beyond music.
A standard ticket for 2025 was priced at £373.50 ($471.50), reflecting the growing demand and premium nature of the festival. Despite the cost, demand continues to outstrip supply, with tickets selling out within minutes every year.
A Brief Pause Ahead
While 2025 promises to be a stellar year for the festival, organiser Emily Eavis has confirmed that the event will take a break in 2026 to "give the land a rest." This follows the festival’s longstanding tradition of “fallow years,” aimed at preserving the farmland and ensuring its sustainability.
As the anticipation builds for next summer, Glastonbury remains a testament to music’s enduring power to unite and inspire. Whether it’s first-time attendees or seasoned veterans, the festival continues to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all who secure a ticket.
